In the early 2000s, I was captivated by the Internet and built my first website with Yahoo! GeoCities. The service doesn’t exist anymore, but I’ve kept a website going ever since. Through the years, the site has evolved to a basic HTML site, to Blogger, to Wordpress, back to HTML with Jekyll, and now Squarespace. I don’t remember what I posted early on, but for awhile, I uploaded some of my music recordings and personal photos to share with family and friends. In a sense, it was my “profile” before Facebook was ubiquitous. I still maintain a web presence today as a hobby, occasionally trying out different types of hosting and software. It should be easily apparent that this site is only half-baked as I never end up settling on a platform or stop tweaking a certain element, but I still find it amazing to have my own space on the Internet.

“Under a trillion stars” is a line from one of my favourite songs — Wings — sung by Birdy. Like this website, the song encapsulates a spirit of adventure and experimentation.

As for a little about me, I am a recent graduate of University of California, Davis. My roots are in Hong Kong, but I spent the majority of time growing up in California. I enjoy traveling near and far, reading about current events, and listening to podcasts like Reply All. You can always tweet me @davidfunglk.
